i am the marathon- A group of talented & privileged women are making a play about Leni Riefenstahl, the innovative German filmmaker responsible for Hitler propaganda films. They are trying to reclaim her legacy. That proves harder than they thought. This staged reading of "I am the marathon" excavates conversations between collaborators, polar bears in hidden rooms, and the cracks beneath women's smiles in a messy meditation on making art under a regime.
"i am the marathon" is a continuation of the work I began this fall during the 2016 SITI Lab Residency. We hope to continue to develop the play throughout the next year.
